A Look Back: Alterist X Reselfridges Pop Up

For two weeks this September, Alterist took over the Accessories Hall at Selfridges as part of Second Hand September. The space became a working studio where making, conversations and creativity sat side by side with the shop floor. Here’s a quick look back at the moments that made it.

Our pop-up in collaboration Reselfridges has now come to a close, and we want to say a BIG thank you to everyone who was part of this experience!

For Second Hand September, we were invited to take over the Reselfridges floor and turn it into a hub for upcycled fashion. Across 14 days we showcased 10 incredible designers from our community, and for four days each week the space became a live studio — with clothes being cut, patched, pierced and reworked in real time. Visitors watched the process unfold and many brought their own garments to be transformed, giving old pieces a new life.

Having designers at work on the shop floor meant visitors could see exactly what goes into upcycling: the time, the skill, the stories, and the creativity that brings each piece to life. It created a real sense of connection between makers and visitors, turning the shop floor into a space for conversation, curiosity and shared inspiration.

An extra special thank you to the designers who brought their collections to the space:  [’Nju]: The Sophist, Eight Ball Custom Vintage, Clara Chu, Dom Okah, EbcyC, Imogen Fawkes, KABO, KIPPA, Material Response, and MINSKI.

And of course, thank you to everyone who visited. Whether you had something customised, supported a designer, or just stopped to see the space, thank you. You made it such a special two weeks.
