It’s been a big year for Alterist! We took upcycling into galleries, high streets, retail, public buildings, working with designers, brands and institutions to show what circular fashion looks like. Here’s a look at some of the highlights…

We sat down with Janelle from White Weft to celebrate the launch of Jean Genius, her new book on the art of upcycling denim. Janelle has been part of the Alterist community since the very beginning, a designer whose work, ethos, and patience-first approach to upcycling has shaped the way many of us think about denim today.

Alterist teamed up with ReLondon for their Love Not Landfill schools project, an initiative created to help the next generation rethink their relationship with fashion. We produced a series of upcycled tote bags designed by four Alterist designers, each transforming waste materials into one-of-a-kind pieces gifted to students across London.

This weekend we joined Love Camden’s Camden Catwalk to celebrate 60 years of the borough’s fashion legacy, by bringing live upcycling straight to the high street.

For two weeks this September, Alterist took over the Accessories Hall at Selfridges as part of Second Hand September. The space became a working studio where making, conversations and creativity sat side by side with the shop floor. Here’s a quick look back at the moments that made it.

From 1–14 September, Alterist will pop up in the Reselfridges destination in the Accessories Hall at Selfridges London for Second Hand September, transforming it into a live working studio and showroom for upcycled fashion.
