London Repair Week 2026 Sashiko Repair Kits with White Weft

We collaborated with White Weft to create a limited run of Sashiko repair kits for London Recycles Repair Week.

Sashiko — meaning “little stabs” — is a 400-year-old Japanese embroidery technique traditionally used to reinforce and repair indigo workwear. Using simple running stitches in white cotton thread, it transforms worn fabric into something both stronger and more beautiful.

Each kit is assembled by Alterist designer White Weft in their Brixton studio, using reclaimed denim from Granny Takes a Trip — the iconic 1966 King’s Road boutique known for its psychedelic tailoring and counterculture spirit.

Designed for denim lovers, this kit gives you everything you need to repair and rework your jeans using traditional Sashiko stitching.

What’s inside:

  • Needle
  • Sashiko thread starter kit
  • Reclaimed denim patches
  • Stork thread scissors.

About White Weft
White Weft is a denim design studio specialising in repair, upcycling, and circular denim design, led by Janelle Hanna, author of Jean Genius

About London Recycles' Repair Week:

Repair Week is designed to inspire us all to ‘think repair’ and either learn how to fix more of our stuff ourselves, or find local repair businesses or community groups who can fix them on our behalf -  all in the name of saving money, helping to fight climate change and falling back in love with things we haven’t used for ages. It is run by London Recycles.
