Alterist's "Making is Hot" Campaign is Showing How Sustainability is Sexy

Alterist is an upcycle fashion marketplace who is on a mission to reduce textile waste, is challenging conventional fashion narratives with its latest video campaign, "Making is Hot."

Alterist is telling a story that changes perspectives. A story that brings the narrative back to its roots – the makers. Their craft is not just a process; it's an art form that deserves the spotlight.

The Heart of the Story: The Makers

True to its ethos of innovation and sustainability, Alterist's "Making is Hot" campaign shifts the focus from products to people – the community of 100+ designers who are behind every creation. 

An initiative that plays tribute to the makers, showcasing the extraordinary creativity involved from turning waste into new products. Beyond fashion, these designers are not simply makers; they are innovators and activists, each contributing to a more sustainably conscious world of fashion.

Alterist’s co-founder, Martina Sorghi comments: “This campaign is the makers stage, we wanted to flip the script to spotlight the designers, to showcase the creativity and dedication that goes into every upcycled piece.”

Sustainability: The New Sexy

Alterist is on a mission to redefine what's sexy in fashion. 

Alterist’s co-founder Hannah Standen, comments: “We believe sustainability is sexy. Supporting independent designers? Most definitely sexy. And how about owning iconic pieces that are unique, and found nowhere else but here? Absolutely, and utterly, sexy.”

The campaign is a celebration of these beliefs. It's about the allure of individuality, the charm of conscious creation, and the undeniable appeal of pieces that tell a story. This campaign isn't just about fashion; it's about making a statement with every piece you wear.

A Community of Conscious Creators

The Alterist community extends beyond makers; it is a community of creators and creatives, each bringing their unique skills and vision to this marketplace. This collaborative campaign wouldn’t be possible without the filmmakers, photographers, writers, stylists and sustainability advocates who all share a common goal – to use creativity to transform the fashion industry into a more sustainable place. 

A Set that Speaks Volumes

Beyond the fashion landscape, the campaign's set is a testament to the Alterist’s capabilities in creative repurposing. Decorated with items from the designers' own collections, as well as borrowed, second-hand, and upcycled pieces from the crew, the set itself is a patchwork of sustainable ingenuity. Reflecting the ethos of every piece featured in the campaign, the set reinforces Alterist's commitment to environmental consciousness and innovative design.
