White Weft is a design studio based in London. We make clothes and accessories from unwanted jeans and denim production waste from garment factories and fabric mills. The business was founded by Janelle Hanna who after spending 15 years in the denim industry designing for well-known brands, was concerned by the waste and disposability of clothing produced today. White Weft exists to explore slower and more local methods of production and to challenge the notion that upcycled products are of lower quality than mass produced items. Our products are recycled but never thrifty – they’re sharply finished and good as new. Each one is unique and you’ll never find two the same. Everything is made in London either by Janelle and the team in our Brixton workshop, or at a local factory who pay London Living Wage to their highly skilled workers.
